Book your spot + Medieval pass!Modern Camping
Location: Galgberget.
Book a modern campsite! The camp is divided into different parts; one part for tents and another part for caravans and buses. Modern tents and vehicles are welcome here.
There are two options to choose from on Nortic:
- Caravan, Bus or Trailer
- Caravan, Bus or Trailer with electricity
NOTE! All cables used for connecting electricity must be grounded, approved for outdoor use and in good working condition without damage. The maximum load per connection is 6A/230V which is equivalent to 1300W. Check your equipment and don’t use multiple high power appliances at the same time.
Water is available in the area. It is piped to a washing station with a simple sink and to various taps inside the camping area. Since the hose is very long and is in the sun, drinking water quality cannot be guaranteed. Drinking water can be accessed at the water connection point a little further away. There are also water bottles to buy at the reception.
There is a simple kitchen with a few hot-plates and a kettle for cooking. There are also freezers there for replacing ice packs.
No electricity can be drawn to individual tents, but you can leave your mobile phone or battery pack for charging at the reception.
The campsite opens on Friday 1/8 at 12:00. The reception is then open 24 hours a day until Sunday night, August 3. During week 32, Monday the 4th to Sunday the 10th August, the reception is open 8:00-12:00 and 16:00-20:00. You can stay until Tuesday morning, August 12th, but please note that the reception and facilities will start to be dismantled on Monday morning, August 11th.

Book a Medieval Camp!In the Medieval Week’s historical camp, you can experience the Middle Ages 24/7. Only historical tents are welcome in this camp, and everything modern should be hidden away to create a genuine experience for everyone in the camp. Medieval clothing is a prerequisite, and all equipment you use outside your tent should reasonably blend into the historical environment. Inside your tent, you can choose; air mattress and sleeping bag or straw bed and sheepskin?
Some examples can provide guidance on how historically correct you need to be:
If you want to cook with a camping stove – which is appropriate for fire safety reasons – do it discreetly. Maybe the stove can be hidden in some way that also provides a little extra fire protection?
If you have been shopping, hide bags and sacks with a cloak when you walk through the camp, or bring a basket to carry instead.
You have realized that your tent is the wrong color for your period and the seams are not hand-sewn – it doesn’t matter – but leave the nylon tent and party tent at home.
Household utensils of flea market quality are perfectly fine, think wooden spoons, cast iron pots, copper bowls… Avoid plastic and things that look modern.
In terms of clothing, it is “attempts at the Middle Ages” that apply. Everyone is welcome and everyone has to start somewhere, but make an honest attempt! Neon-colored sneakers and jeans are not OK, but a pair of discreet cotton pants and a pair of simple leather shoes under your first self-sewn tunic are just fine!
Toilets (portable dry toilets) are available in the area.
Showers are available in a nearby school. Information about the location and opening hours of showers will come soon.
Water is available in the area. It is piped to a washing station with a simple sink and to taps inside the area. Since the hose is very long and lies in the sun, drinking water quality cannot be guaranteed. Drinking water can be filled at the water connection point just inside Dalmansporten.
There is a simple kitchen with a few hotplates and a kettle for cooking. There are also freezers here for exchanging ice packs.
No electricity can be connected to indiviual tents, but it is possible to charge your phone or battery pack in the kitchen.
Reception opening hours will come soon.
The medieval camp is open from Friday, August 1st at 12:00. Those who help with the preparation of the camp can set up their tent as early as Thursday, July 31st. The camp closes on Sunday, August 10th. It is possible to stay until Monday, August 11th, but please note that the fence around the area and some facilities will be dismantled on Sunday.

Medeltidsveckan’s Pirate Camp with Tundlaheim
– for all pirates, adventurers and landlubbers who dare
Location: Nordergravar and nearby areas.
Book a pirate camp!Where the sea winds meet the wildest party spot of the Medieval Week, Nordergravar, the Pirate Camp rises! Everyone with salt in their blood and a yearning for adventure gathers at the beach fence near the pirate hill. Here you can pitch your tent and live like a real sea rascal, with pirates as neighbors.
Do you or your crew have a tent that is fit for a real pirate? Then this is your port during Medieval Week! Here the sounds of bustling harbor quarters mix with the shadows of dark smugglers’ nights – together we create a living world of pirate life, twilight shops and salt-splashed stories. There is room for everything from sailor’s awnings to stately pavilions – as long as it is historical and pirate-like! Modern tents? No, forget it! Sunshades, flags and fishing nets give bonus points!
In the Pirate Camp:
Clothes and equipment are part of the experience – the more believable, the better! But the range is wide: everything from Visby pirates to South Sea rascals are welcome!
• There is plenty of space between the tents to create your own crew camps.
• The festivities are kept private, but those with the password (and the right contacts) are of course allowed access in the company of a resident.
• It is possible to cook over an open fire in your own raised fireplaces (provided that no land crab has imposed a fire ban).
• Certain parts of the camp are open during certain times for visitors and pirate lovers.
A camp that never rests!
The front part of the pirate camp, at the intersection with the entrance to the beach fence, the path to the beach and the bridge over to Snäckgärdsporten and the market, is open to visitors during market hours. Here you can expect sales of pirate goods, imaginative antics and activities for the whole family! When the sun sets on the horizon, the area closes to the public and instead our pirate party tents open – here all the camp’s residents can enjoy a lively harbor evening in the best pirate style.
Do you want to visit the camp during closed hours? Then you need the protection of a resident pirate – and he is responsible for your behavior. For everyone who lives in the camp, an exclusive place in a 3-hour short story in Tundlaheim Saga’s rich pirate fiction is also included!
What does the camp look like?
The pirate camp stretches along the stone walls in the northern part of Nordegravar, with a clear division:
• In the backwater, the eastern part of the camp, there is room for smaller pirates and families to enjoy the pirate life.
• Closest to the party tents, the campsites are reserved for adult participants, where the night’s tales and secret deals can flourish undisturbed.
Do you want to live like a pirate but don’t have your own tent?
For an additional cost of 350 SEK you can book a place to sleep in the camp’s dormitory tent. Here you can have a bunk in a spacious pavilion with standing height and a carpeted floor – all you need to bring is a sleeping pad, blanket and pillow for a good night’s sleep.
So pack your duffel bag, sharpen your cleaver and get ready to sail into the most sulfur-emitting camp of the Medieval Week – the Pirate Camp
Toilets (portable dry toilets) are available in the area.
Showers are available in a nearby school. Information about the location and opening hours of the showers will come soon.
Water is piped to a tap inside the area. Since the hose is very long and lies in the sun, drinking water quality cannot be guaranteed. Drinking water can be filled at the water connection point at Lasarettbacken.
No electricity can be run to individual tents.

Weekly pass included
The booking also includes a Medieval festival pass for the entire festival! As a guest at the modern campsite, pirate camp or medieval camp, you have access to all areas of the Medieval Week around the city for all eight days.
Personal booking
The booking is per person and you bring your own tent. You can stay by yourself in a single tent or in a group in, for example, an open-air tent or medieval pavilion. The pirate camp offers space in a tent pavilion for an additional fee – read more under Pirate Camp.
Reception and Night Guards
Medieval Week places a strong emphasis on safety. There is a reception at the festival camping and one at the medieval camp. These will have extended hours on August 1-3 to accommodate arriving ferries. Detailed reception hours will be available soon.
Age Limit
You must be 16 years or older and have a written certificate from a guardian if you are under 18 and traveling alone or in a group without a guardian present.
- Children and youth apply to ages 3-15 years.
- Adults apply to ages 16 and older.
- Children under 3 years stay for free.
Tent Size and Sunshade
The price per person applies regardless of how many people are in the tent (each person should have their own camping ticket). As long as there is space and you do not block fire lanes or hinder accessibility, it’s okay to have a screen roof/party tent next to your sleeping tent. This does not incur an extra cost.
Parking
Parking is available but not directly adjacent to the area. Vehicles cannot be parked next to the tent or caravan!
Pets
You can bring pets to the campsite, but always be responsible for your animal. Zero tolerance for aggressive behavior from pets applies, and you may be immediately evicted for any violation.
Terms and Conditions
Medieval Week has zero tolerance for violence or abuse, leading to immediate eviction from the area without prior warning. Authorities and the police will be contacted if necessary. There is always a responsible person on-site even when the reception is closed.
Noise
Both at the festival camping and in the medieval camp, there may be noise from parties in the evenings and nights, as well as noise from early risers in the morning. Bring earplugs if needed!
Your safety is our focus
– help us maintain a pleasant and friendly atmosphere by treating each other with dignity, kindness, and equality. If you experience anything uncomfortable, do not hesitate to contact us. We are here for you.
Fire
The possibility of lighting fires depends on the general fire regulations on the specified date. It is extremely important to respect these conditions as the grounds are often very dry in August. For cooking near the tent, we recommend spirit stove. Exercise caution here as well.
CANCELLATION
In case of cancellation, charges apply as follows:
- Cancellation up to 28 days before arrival: full refund of the booking price, minus a 20% administration fee.
- Cancellation up to 11 days before arrival: a refund of half the booking price (50%).
