Welcome, here at the Medieval week office we sit and work all year round, for the most part.
But who are we really? And what do we do?

Niklas manages logistics and events like few others. Before we lured him into the magical world of Medieval Week, he worked with Halton and Burning Man, among others.
Niklas has lived in Texas and is the proud father of three sons. He is a passionate Harley Davidson rider and has a large global. Niklas likes to talk on the phone, connect people and is more drawn to the Viking Age than the Middle Ages – but we are working on it.
Niklas is a passionate advocate for promoting the art of listening worldwide. He founded “The Great Listening” movement to provide a global platform for listening, collaborating and achieving mutual understanding and growth. The idea for the movement arose during Almedalen Week in 2011.

I haven’t missed a single medieval week since 1990. Just before I started with larping and participatory culture. I am a trained cultural project manager, graphic designer and have worked as a theatre producer. In 2008 I exhibited the photo exhibition Medeltidsveckan i bild at Kapitelhusgården and the following year Trixiga bilder om Gycklargruppen Trix. I am a die-hard “Söderböna” from Stockholm who loves Gotland and has visited all 100 churches on Öjn. Apart from the office, I like to hang out in Lännakiosken.

Gotland and Västergarn are my second home. It is where I have spent all my dreamy summers: fishing in the river, riding barefoot late at night, sand in my hair, lamb barbecues and neighbourhood parties.
My Middle Ages began in my early years. My first personal memories are picnics in Almedalen with my family, bustling markets on Strandgatan and a terrifying Valdemar Atterdag during the extortion of Visby. When I was 13 I got my mother’s brown velvet curtains, and sewed my first dress – that’s the way it is.
Now I am strengthening the office with my expertise in project management, artistry & events. I want to create bridges between all co-creators so that we can all have that magical Middle Ages v 32.

I grew up in Järfälla, and after studying at KTH I worked as an IT consultant in Stockholm but I didn’t like city life or sedentary office work. I wanted to go to the countryside, but where do you go? Visby and Gotland were close to my heart because of annual visits to the Medieval Week since 1994, so… Why overthink it? 15 years ago I quit my job, bought a farm and moved without any real plan. I live in Gammelgarn with three horses and a cat, and I’m very happy to now be able to work with what is the reason I moved here.

I first attended the Medieval Week as a small child and have visited the week many, many times since then, through many different stages of my life. I do a little bit of everything within communication; radio, film and image production. The Middle Ages are close to my heart and it is an honor to live, work and live on Gotland with what I am most passionate about.

I am from Gotland and have a big interest in crafts. I was at my first Medieval Week back in the 80s. I have a background in building maintenance and prefer to work in the workshop and build both large and small. Previously, I have worked as a prop assistant, a guide at a Viking village and in the hotel and restaurant industry. In my free time, I like to shoot with black powder and fence. Among other things…

I am imported from Nyköping and working hard to become a Gotlander. Fittingly, I am very fond of old things: film, clothes, stories, music… So what better than working with history? My first year at Medeltidsveckan was 2010 (so I missed Clematis by a hair!), I had just moved in and it was a whole new world that opened up. The atmosphere was magical. Everyone was friends. The parties were eternal. And the love was total. I wish that all people could experience the community that characterises Medeltidsveckan at some point, then the world would be a kinder place.

As a native Gotlander, Medieval Week is an experience I always look forward to and plan my vacation around. It is a must to visit every year, at least 1 day. It has become part of my childhood memories and I have probably only missed a handful of medieval weeks since it started in the 80s.
For the past 20 years I have lived in Gothenburg and have now returned to my beloved Gotland thanks to my studies. Through school I applied for a 10-week internship/LIA at the Medieval Week office, it was absolutely fantastic to experience and get an insight into how the festival is organized!
I am also the contact person for Queen Märta Af Fluffenburg – a medieval queen who does fun children’s activities around Visby, both on her own initiative and upon request. Even though I am Queen Märta’s contact person, she and I have never been seen in the same place at the same time…

I attended my first Medeltidsveckan in 2014, and been there every year since. I studied Archaeology with a focus in 3D imaging, and over the last 10+ years have worked with industrial measurement in the automotive industry and in parallel 3D scanning within cultural heritage. In 2017 I joined the communications group as a photographer and now I support the communications team more actively.

Thomas is our in-house technical Swiss Army knife. He manages our IT, builds our website, manages our digital infrastructure and shakes the notary monk when he runs out of ink; to name just a few of his many responsibilities.
He is also our Danish import, representing the barbarian hordes of 1361. Although these days that horde mostly attacks us with bad jokes and sly glances.

I have been a visitor to the Medieval Week since ’92 and participated for several years, including with an open stage in the market area. My passion is participatory and co-creative culture that tells stories and captivates. I am a screenwriter and producer trained in film studies and international relations, and have taught courses at the Stockholm Academy of Dramatic Arts. I have created several international productions in television, events and games, with two international Emmys under my belt. Among others at Dramaten (Stockholm), John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts (Washington DC), NewYorkComicCon (NYC), CCP Games Fanfest (Reykjavík) and Galaxy’s Edge with Walt Disney Imagineering (LA). I have created a nationwide digital television channel with TV4 and several studios in storytelling and experiences. I have sat on the national board of the Swedish Role- and Conflict Games Association and was involved in arranging, among other things, the 1994 larp Trenne Byar. I am a member of re-enactment societies for the 19th and 16th centuries and have slowly started to learn about the 14th century. Otherwise, in my free time, I am currently writing a TV series about the 6th century BC and Phoenician culture, when I am not with Anna, the children and all the rabbits, hamsters, the dog and the cat.
